Ronnie Stanley, Ravens Agree To Five-Year, $98.75M Extension

Oct 30, 2020 11:28 AM

The Baltimore Ravens and Ronnie Stanley have agreed to a five-year, $98.75 million extension.

The deal only trails the $22 million per season average Laremy Tunsil signed with the Houston Texans.

The extension keeps Stanley protecting Lamar Jackson's blind side through the 2025 season.

"Ronnie is the mainstay on our offensive line," Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said. "He's a shutdown left tackle who excels on the field and in our community. This is just the beginning for Ronnie, and we could not be happier for him and his family."

Through seven weeks this season, Stanley has a pass-block win rate of 96.8%, the highest among qualified offensive tackles.

Matt Ryan: Win Could Be 'Confidence Builder'

Oct 30, 2020 8:53 AM

The Atlanta Falcons have struggled this season, but Matt Ryan thinks Thursday night's victory over the Carolina Panthers could spark a second-half surge.

"I hope it's the start of something," Ryan said. "I really feel like, although we're 2-6, I feel like we've been in some tight ones. We've played some good football. I think we can play some really tough football here in the second half of the season."

Last season the Falcons started 1-7 but went 6-2 over their final eight games.

"We've been in every game we've played this year," Ryan said. "We've had some crazy losses, just to be frank, and I really believe that we've got the caliber of team to go be in the games we're going to play the rest of the season.

"Why can't we win them all? That's the mindset that I have."

Seahawks Decided Not To Pursue Antonio Brown After Due Diligence

Oct 29, 2020 11:22 AM

The Seattle Seahawks decided not to pursue Antonio Brown after performing their due diligence on him.

Brown had contentious exits from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders. Brown also was suspended eight games for multiple Personal Conduct Policy violations. He faces further potential discipline for a pending civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault, based on the evidence developed.

The Seahawks may have acknowledged interest in Brown simply to placate Russell Wilson, who had pushed for them to sign him.

Aaron Rodgers: 'Absolutely Crazy' To Think Mike Zimmer Is On Hot Seat

Oct 29, 2020 8:46 AM

The Minnesota Vikings are 1-5, but one of their biggest rivals doesn't think Mike Zimmer's job should be in jeopardy.

"He's a phenomenal coach," Aaron Rodgers said of Zimmer. "I was telling a friend of mine, to see (Zimmer) mentioned to be on the hot seat, to me, is absolutely crazy. I think he's one of the best coaches in the league and has been for a long time.

"They don't all give you the trouble and the scheme that Mike does. I have a lot of respect for the way he coaches and the way he especially coaches defense."

The Green Bay Packers (5-1) will face the Vikings on Sunday.
